November 4th - Beavermeade to Lang

20 cyclists met at Beavermeade for a 35 km ride thru Otonabee Twp on a spectacular late fall day after having the ride cancelled last week because of a snowfall! From Beavermeade we cycled to the Lang-Hastings Trail (TCT), across the Keene Rd to Dillon Rd then east for a final short but steep climb up to Drummond Line. Drummond has a few big time "rollers" one measuring 9 % near the top on the ride south towards the TCT. As we cycled towards Lang on the trail we came to a fallen tree which Barry cut up with his folding hand saw! Left the trail taking the bike lane to cycle north on Heritage Line (Cty Rd 34) 7 to Lang Rd for a ride into Lang then on to Hope Mill then cycled back to Lang & out to Nelson Rd, south to the TCT for a return ride to Beavermeade.

June 17 Waterfront Trail Ride

Pete Macloghlin, Gordon Powell, Barry Diceman & Robin Maughan met Peter Hamley for this 58 km ride from the Whitby lakeshore to the Rouge R. From Peterborough we turned off Hgw 401 at the Whitby Brock St  (Hgw 12) exit driving south on Brock to Water St turning into the Kiwanis Haydenshore  Pk parking lot where we met Peter. This is a spectacular ride beside Lake Ontario & today we enjoyed the cooling breeze from the lake. There are a few detours on the way to the Rouge R just follow the signs however in Whitby a sign indicating a return to the trail was missing. After the ride we had a picnic style lunch beside the lake in the Kiwanis park. The ride can be shortened by parking for eg at the end of Harwood Ave in Ajax
