June 19 2024 - Pete Gardner's ABC Ride & BBQ

We met in the Bridgenorth ballpark for a shortened ride of 27 km because of the heat & the  hill climbs. From the ballpark we cycled on side streets to the causeway where the bridge is under construction allowing only 1-way traffic at a time. We rode on the new wide multi-use causeway lane to Yankee Line for a long uphill climb past Tara Rd to McAuley Rd for a break before cycling south to Irish Line & another rather long steep climb north to Perdue Rd & a ride south to Clonakilty Line for a ride east to Gifford Dr where instead of cycling west which has a short but very steep hill climb we cycled east to Gifford Dr & a ride beside Chemung Lk to Dalhaven Rd & a climb up to Peregrine Rd to Yankee Line for a long descent to Rotary Pk before crossing the causeway & winding our way thru the plaza & side streets to the 7th Line & the BEL Rotary Trail for a ride to the 5th Line & a ride across Chemong Rd to Pinehill Rd for a ride  above Chemung Lk before descending on West Communications Rd thru Bridgenorth Estates to the cars & a drive back to Pete's lakeside home for a swim & BBQ lunch

June 3 2024 - Peter Hamley's Oshawa Trails Ride

We met at Peter's home for this 50 km ride on a day that had a cooling breeze to offset the heat & humidity. From Peter's home we cycled on several quiet streets to the Harmony Creek Trail for a ride over Hgw 401 to the 2nd Marsh Trail & Lakeview Park where were supposed to meet Steve Guerin, Arndt Kryger & Peter Maskens for the ride on the Waterfront Trail. However we were delayed when Ron Spear took a nasty tumble. Blake Frazer kindly offered to take Ron to the hospital for an examination where he was discharged with minor injuries & was able to drive his van home!. We did meet Steve, Arndt, & Peter at the Lakeridge Health Complex where Blake just missed us. From the Waterfront Trail we cycled north on the Oshawa Creek Trail for lunch at Teddy's where Blake joined us. This is a lovely ride thru the Oshawa City parks to & from the Waterfront Trail a beautiful linear park beside the Lake Ontario shoreline.
