Waterfront Trail - Oshawa to HMS Ajax Park

 We met Peter Hamley in Lakeview Park for a 50 km return ride on The Waterfront Trail to Ajax, a spectacular linear park along the Lake Ontario shoreline. Today in the middle of a heat wave there was a cooling breeze that made for a pleasant ride. After the ride we had a picnic lunch in the shade of the large trees in Lakeview Park.  

Wed June 18/25 - Ride from Beavermeade

 On a hot humid day we met in Beavermeade for a cycle on the RGWT up to Nassau where we divided in 2 groups. Bill Hardwick led a ride thru Trent U to Woodland Dr for a long gradual uphill climb across Centre Line to Hilliard St & back down to the RGWT

The 2nd group continued to ride on the RGWT to the Lakefield trails for a ride thru the town to the Marina on Water St & a ride beside the lake to Queen St then west over the dam to Clementi St which takes you past the trailer park to The Selwyn Conservation Area & a trail beside the lake to a tower overlooking the Lake Katchewanooka Marsh. From there we returned to River Rd for a return to Peterborough for a ride of 40 km

June 11 - Lakefield to Youngs Point

On an ideal day for cycling we met in Lakefield at the municipal parking lot behind the arena for a 35 km ride thru the Smith  & Douro Twps rolling countryside. From the parking lot we cycled on Water St beside the Otonabee R to Queen St then out to Youngs Pt Rd for a ride east to Preston Rd, north to the 12th Line, west to Northey's Rd & a long gradual uphill ride to the 14th Line then east to Jopling Rd north to the 15th Line & east to North School Rd, south to Hgw 28 into Youngs Point. From the locks we crossed the old highway bridge out to Hyw 28 for a short ride south on a wide paved shoulder to the Douro 4th Line, south to Cty Rd 6 & a return to Lakefield where we had a picnic lunch in the Isobel Morris Park beside Lake Katchewanooka.
