July 24 - John Crawford's Ride & Poolside BBQ

20 cyclists met at John's home where we had a choice of cycling either a 35 or 20 km route. Bill McKnight led the 35 km ride cycling west uphill on Cumberland Ave to Hilliard  St & north up to the Bridgenorth Trail for a ride on the trail to the 7th Line. East on the 7th across Centre Line where the road was under construction to Cty Rd  507. A few of us made a detour off the 7th Line ( just west of the Centre Line) into the Miller Creek Conservation Park for a view of the huge wetlands from an observation tower. Cycled north on the paved shoulder of 507 to Cty Rd 18 for a ride into Lakefield & a return to John's home on the  RGWT or River Rd, Water St & the Parkway Trail beside Cumberland Ave for a poolside BBQ. John & Mel Johnson led the 20 km ride on the RGWT out to Lock 25

Nov 15 Ride - thru Otonabee from Beavermeade

11 cyclists met in Beavermeade where Barry led us on a 25 km loop starting on the TCT which included our 1st time taking Dillon Rd east past Drummond Line to Providence Line. We cycled on the TCT to Dillon Rd then east up 2 hills to Drummond continuing east on Dillon to Providence for a few more hill climbs (see Burton's photos) while winding our way south to the TCT for a return ride to the Ashburnham Ale House for lunch. It was a pleasant day for cycling, sunny, almost no wind, you just needed to dress appropriately, layered clothing, gloves & head gear under the bike helmet as the temperature rose from 0 to 6 C !

October 25 - Barry's Cavan Hills Ride

13 cyclists met in the commuter parking lot off Cty Rd 10 at Hgw 115 for this 35 km ride on a cool blustery fall day. This route is not flat & has a few challenging climbs as you wind your way to Porter Rd starting with a long uphill climb on Cty Rd 10 to Larmer Line, made more difficult today because we were riding into a strong headwind. West on Larmer over Hgw 115 to Tapley 1/4 Line then south for another uphill climb to Hgw 115 & Fallis Line. West on Fallis mainly downhill to Glenmorgan Rd & south thru woods to Pontypool Rd. South downhill on Pontypool Rd beside Hgw 115 past Black Diamond Golf club to Porter Rd although we couldn't coast because of the wind! North on Porter assisted by a tailwind for a short ride into the site of the Manvers Train Station before continuing north on a gradual uphill gradient to Fallis Cemetry for a panoramic view towards Bethany. From the cemetery downhill to Weston Rd & a ride into Bethany for lunch at Coach's (705-277-2500). After lunch the wind had subsided, instead of taking the old rail trail, we cycled east on Hgw 7A to Dranoel Rd & south to Syer Line for a 6 km ride back to the cars.

15 cyclists met in Beavermeade on a sunny but crisp day with a brisk north wind for a 25 km ride into the Otonabee Twp countrysideride on a route that Conrad & Mel introduced last year. West on Base Line across Bensfort Rd into Stewart Hall for a ride on the residential streets past Dave Meeservey's home to Wallace Pt Rd & a return to Peterborough. From the Wallace Pt Rd  we cycled on River Rd under Hgw 7 to Otonabee Dr which took us back to Ashburnham Dr & lunch at The Porch n' Pint.

Sept 21 2016 - Robin's Ride from Baxter Creek Golf Club

18 cyclists met Robin at Baxter Creek on a another ideal for cycling for a 40 km ride thru the hills of Cavan-South Monagahn Twp. From the golf club we cycled west for 3 km on Cedar Valley Rd to Hutchison Dr where 3 cyclists rode north on Hutchison to Syer Line for a ride of 30 km. Robin led us south on Hutchison to Cty Rd 21 then east across Hgw 28 (where Cty Rd 21 becomes Wallace Pt Rd) to Scriven Rd which was being graded so mud was flying!. This is the start of several uphill climbs. Turned east off Scriven onto the 3rd Line for a 3 km ride to Cty Rd 2 which winds its way for 10 km before reaching Baileboro. This section has 2 long hill climbs that provide stunning views of the countryside & Rice Lk. Continued west thru Baileboro on Carmel Line to Brackenbridge Dr & north for a slight jog east to Hutchison then north across Cty Rd 21 to Cedar Valley Rd & the return to the golf club for a sumptuous patio lunch. Thanks to Robin for leading the ride & making reservations for lunch. This is a spectacular ride & the hills are not difficult if you take your time & make frequent drink stops
