Wed August 6/25 - Young's Pt Ride

We met in the Lock 27 parking lot for a 31 km ride thru the rolling Selwyn countryside. We cycled west on Young's Pt Rd, to Miller Rd, to Preston Rd north to the 12th Line for a ride west across Buckhorn Rd to Birch Island Rd & down to The Selwyn Conservation Area for a break before returning on Birch Island Rd to the 12th Line & back to Preston Rd, south to Young's Pt Rd & a ride beside Lake Katchewanooka to Young's Pt. After the ride we enjoyed pub grub at Lock 27 Tap & Grill overlooking Clear Lake

July 30/25 - Newcastle Ride

We met in Bond Head Park at the end of Mill St on the Lake Ontario shoreline. From the park we cycled north on Mill St to Metcalf St which becomes Concession Rd 1as we cycled east thru farm country for a stop at Newtonville Rd before reaching East Townline Rd where we split in to 2 groups at Lakeshore Rd a section of the Waterfront Rail. Burton led one group east to Wesleyville before turning around for a ride of 37 km. Pete led the others turning right off East Townline Rd onto Lakeshore Rd for a 28 km ride overlooking the lake thru Port Granby back to Bond Head where everyone met for a picnic lunch. This is lovely ride with cooling breezes from the lake but passes thru a few gullies with long & short but steep hill climbs.

July 23/25 - Omemee to Lindsay

 On a pleasant day for cycling we met at Riverside Park in Omemee where Burton led us on his 40 km route thru the City of Kawartha Lakes countryside. From Omemee we cycled on the TCT thru Reaboro to Lindsay for a ride on the Rotary trail beside the Scugog R to King St east to Logie St & south for a bumpy ride on the Victoria Rail Trail under Hgw 7 to Goldenmile Rd & a short jog over to Halter Rd for a rolling ride south to River Rd, east to Hillhead Rd, south to Confederation Rd, east to Post Rd for a short ride north to Crosswind Rd & east to Heights Rd at the John Deere dealership, across Hgw 7 to Beaver Rd & east to the TCT for a return ride to Omemee & a picnic lunch in Riverside park overlooking the Pigeon R

July 16/25 - Beavermeade ino Cavan-Monaghan Twp

On a steamy hot morning Bill Hardwick led this 40 km ride from Beavermeade over Lock 19  to Lock St then winding our way on side streets to Monaghan Rd, up Crawford Dr to Fisher Dr crossing Fleming Dr to Airport Rd & around the airport to Whitfield Rd across Hgw 28 to Syer Line continuing west to Hutchinson Rd & south to Cedar Valley Rd, east past Baxter Creek Golf Club across Hgw 28 to the 5th Line & Frenchman's Creek Rd to Wallace Point Rd for a return to Peterborough for a picnic lunch in Beavermeade

July 9/25 - Pete Gardner's ABC Ride & BBQ Lunch

We met Pete in the Bridgenorth Lions Park for a 32 km ride around Bridgenorth & Chemung Lake (ABC) . From the ballpark we cycled thru Bridgenorth on side streets for a ride across the upgraded causeway & an uphill ride on Yankee Line past The Quarry Golf Club to McAuley Rd to Irish Line & west to Perdue Rd, south to Clonakilty Rd for a steep hill climb before descending thru a subdivision to Gifford Dr & a ride beside Chemung Lk to Dalhaven Rd for a ride up to Peregrine Rd before cycling down Yankee Line & a ride across the causeway onto Kelly Blvd then up East Communication Rd to the 7th Line & a ride on the Rotary Bridgenorth Trail to the 5th Line, west across Chemung Rd to Pinehill Rd which winds its way down to Westlake Rd & Pete's home on Westlake Dr where Jon Rosoniac met us for lunch. Jon is still recovering from a complication following hip surgery in May

July 2 - Bobcaygeon ride

 We met in Bobcaygeon at Lakeview Park for a 42 km ride beside Sturgeon Lk on an ideal day for cycling. From the park we cycled west on a paved shoulder on Cty Rd 24 to Dunsford. From Dunsford we cycled north on Sturgeon Rd to Sturgeon Lake & a ride beside the lake before cycling uphill to Gil-Mar Rd & south across Hgw 36 for a return ride on Dunsford Rd into Dunsford. From there we cycled south on Sturgeon Rd (Cty Rd 7) to Log House Rd, east to Cedar Glen Rd for a ride on a newly paved surface across Hgw 36 & Cty Rd 24 to the lake then east to Clifford Dr which ends at Cty Rd 24 for a return to Bobcaygeon & a picnic lunch in the park beside Sturgeon Lk. Peter Gardner joined me for a 38 km ride by leaving Dunsford on Cty Rd 24 crossing Hgw 36 to Cedar Glen Rd then following the same route, except that we turned onto Scotch Line Rd for a visit with Warren Kettlewell one of my golfing friends.

Waterfront Trail - Oshawa to HMS Ajax Park

 We met Peter Hamley in Lakeview Park for a 50 km return ride on The Waterfront Trail to Ajax, a spectacular linear park along the Lake Ontario shoreline. Today in the middle of a heat wave there was a cooling breeze that made for a pleasant ride. After the ride we had a picnic lunch in the shade of the large trees in Lakeview Park.
